X-Mas In July

"Vengeance has no foresight."

Karl Rove may be an evil genius, but he's no Napoleon Bonaparte.

Ratfink, busted.

The War Room's Tim Grieve piles on:
For purely professional reasons, we'd welcome the prospect of a perjury prosecution running alongside the Supreme Court confirmation hearings this summer. Solely as an exercise in better understanding our fellow man, we'd be interested in hearing how someone who accuses liberals of wanting to put U.S. troops in "greater danger" explains away a decision to reveal the identity of a CIA agent for political gain. And if getting that kind of insight requires us to see Turd Blossom in handcuffs and leg irons, well, it's a small price to pay for bringing us all together as human beings, isn't it?

If I read all this right, what the special prosecutor (Fitzgerald, as I recall) is after is busting up as high as he can over who in the White House was looking to protect the Niger uranium flake hoax.

The guy has a reputation in Illinios as a prosecutor who will take on anybody, no matter how big--and it sounds like if he has a sniff this story goes all the way to the top (i.e., Cheney), that's how far he'll pursue it.

I read that too, Jeff, (can't remember where!) that this Plame outing is leading to the Yellow Cake forgeries which is leading to the White House. Where there's smoke, there's Karl Rove's piggy snout oinking in Bush's ear.

please oh please oh pleeeeeaaaassseeee special prosecutor bring down Bush's house of cards!

Hope you had terrific 4th. I went to a bbq in the Oakland hills. While sacramento scorched at 100 degrees, the Oakland hills (across the bay from SF) was a perfect 74 with easy breezes. Remember what Twain said? "The coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." Sure was a nice break from the valley heat!

Cap,

Yeah, SF is nice in the summer. Used to drive up there to see my uncle's family when I was stationed in San Diego.

Yeah, I think Fitz is out to get to the bottom of the yellow cake story--and if he's got people afraid of doing heavy prison time over that, he's probably got a lot of other dirt on the rest of the baked intelligence too. Note how the Bolton issue has gone under the radar, and we don't hear the neo-Gopers wanking about that any more.

We shall see.

Interestingly, just after I posted I checked my email and there was a message from Truthout.org about Fitzgerald and his connection to Karl and Gonzales ... a sort of: will he or won't he stand on principles and nail the leaker. Fitz was appointed by Bush to 'get to the bottom' of the Plame leak, but is friendly with Gonzales who is friendly with Rove who is friendly with GWB.... some are speculating there is blood in the water, too much blood to dillute and so therefore Fitz will HAVE to act on the evidence presented...

you're right, of course: we shall see.
