I have an different take on Rove's comments, partially in relation to the grilling of Rumsfeld and other issues. I blogged my comments. As always, interested in what you think. It isn't complementary to the Democrats, unfortunately. It disappointed me to have to write it, but I'd like to see the party keep focused :)

The Rovewellian:

He looks like a character from ANIMAL FARM and acts like a character from 1984.

His comments about "liberals" were aimed at the lowest common denomator of his Kool-Aid radio target audience, and meant to pull his opposition down to that level.

Like the old joke says: when you wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig likes it.

You were disappointed to have to attack Democrats and Liberals and anyone else who doesn't swallow Team Bush's party line?

Well you sure fucking fooled me. In point of fact, you sounded downright gleeful going off on Democrats, Liberals, and anyone else who isn't fond of the republican kool aid.

I'm cross posting my response to you at Tabella here for posterity:

You wanted my opinion on your post?

Karl Rove is a cold, calculating, heartless monster. I wish he would drop dead.

Republicans do not own the tragedy of 9/11, unless ownership means responsibility. You got that straight? Every American was affected by the attack Team Bush allowed to happen through their mother-fucking incompetence and I'm sick to fucking death of apologists like you mincing and parsing words for their benefit. Karl Rove and those who think like him deserve scorn and should be shunned from society, or locked up at their beloved Gitmo.

Team Bush and their apologists prepared for and lied their way into war not against the 9/11 attackers (where the fuck! is Osama "dead or alive"?), but instead took advantage of the tragedy to pursue their long term poorly thought-out goals: oust Saddam and control the oil flow in Iraq, no matter the cost in lives or treasury.

Now thousands are dead because of their failed folly. You sleep well at night? Good for you. There are thousands upon thousands upon thousands who don't, who will never have another good night's sleep, because their loved one(s) is/are DEAD for lies. Can you comprehend "Dead." You love your kids, right? Well so do the Liberal parents of soldiers in Iraq. So do the parents of the Liberals killed in NY, DC, and a field 3000 miles from my home.

A whole lot of Liberals live in NY. A whole lot of Liberals died in the Twin Towers. A whole lot of Liberals are dying on the Iraqi sands. If you can't see the wrongness, indeed the evil, in Karl Roves words, saying Liberals *want* our troops to die, and the underlying reasons he's saying such fucking bullshit -- Clue: because the failure is upon us and blame must go somewhere except to those reponsible -- then you are as fucking sick as Karl Rove is.

Oh, and Karl Rove isn't just some guy off the fucking streets. He is Bush's Deputy Chief of Staff and a member of the President's cabinet and inner circle. He is absolutely accountable to every person with a soul. I pay is fucking salary. He is accountable to ME, a tax paying American citizen.

Durbin's statement more offensive than Rove's? Have you lost your damn mind?

Seriously, Scott, if you can't see the distinction between Durbin's and Rove's comments, if you can't see the overall strategy being played out right before your eyes by a failed Team Bush, then I feel sorry for you.

Karl Rove is a despicable human being. Anyone, and I mean any one person on this planet, who justifies or agrees with Rove's words and actions, can do as his master the Vice President instructed on the Senate floor: go fuck themself.
