Friday's Word of The Day is brought to you by Chepooka, as shouted out by tas with the louded mouth.

Why Fucktardary? Because that's exactly what one would call the effort of an Alabama lawmaker who sought to ban gay marriages and who now wants to ban novels with gay characters from public libraries, including university libraries.

"Our culture, how we know it today, is under attack from every angle," Allen said in a press conference Tuesday.

Allen said that if his bill passes, novels with gay protagonists and college textbooks that suggest homosexuality is natural would have to be removed from library shelves and destroyed.

"I guess we dig a big hole and dump them in and bury them," he said.

YT wonders...was it a bodice-ripping romance set in the 19th century Wild West and first published as a $2.50 New American Library mass market paperback in 1981 that drove Mr. Allen to acts of Nazism?:
Throughout its pages are fornication (the heroine with her late sister's husband), incest (half brother knocks up half sister), adultery (the heroine, with her first husband's friend), contraception (by the wed and the unwed) and lesbian couplings (the heroine's sister and an older woman). And incidentally, lynchings, dogicide, cattle theft and robber-baronism.

Fucktardary: Book Burning Edition. When a bad review won't do.

On the topic of gays in books, I highly recommend The Kid by Dan Savage. It's a non-fiction account of the author and his boyfriend's experience adopting a baby.

One of the best books I've ever read.

Anyway, something needs to change. There's a lot of crazy stuff going on.
